Claude Code audited my Google Ads. I spent $9,000 on pointless clicks.
I’ve been throwing Claude Code at every part of my business lately.
This week it was my Google Ads account. To my unsurprised surprise, it found I spent about $9,000 last year on pointless clicks.
People searching for a completely different company. People trying to fix an error code themselves. People looking for tech support from their own IT guy. All of them clicking my ad. None of them ever going to be a customer.
Google’s dashboard said things were going great, by the way. Google gets paid per click, whoever’s clicking.
The fix took one afternoon: block the junk, tell Google what a real customer looks like, and let it re-learn. A script now checks the numbers every week and reports back.
🌶️ Hot take: I used to hire Google Ads experts for a “check-up,” then wait and pray for the leads. To be fair, the leads did come. But now the same budget is aimed at the 10% of clicks that ever mattered, and instead of crossed fingers I get a weekly report telling me the truth.
